Supplier Quality Improvement (SQI) is included within DFSS (Design for Six Sigma) to ensure that the supply base capabilities are recognised and information and data is made available to the engineers when new designs are being created and developed.

Cummins Turbo Technologies has individual people responsible for purchasing new products and commodities who, in addition to meeting cost targets, also have responsibility for ensuring that the technical and quality aspects of product are met before release to production.
