The drive to reduce engine emission and the need to improve efficiency and reliability mean that turbocharger technology is evolving rapidly. Continual improvements in component design have been achieved over the past 25 years. However, it is already obvious that the engine of the future will demand significant improvements in air handling systems. Here we offer our view on the more promising future technologies:
