Columbus Supports the ’Back-To-School’ Drive to Help Disadvantaged Children
The Community Involvement Team (CIT) at the Columbus Engine Plant has teamed up with local schools to support the annual ’Back-To-School’ drive for the 2009-2010 school year. The drive helps support many disadvantaged children in the community by providing them with the basic school supplies needed in the classroom such as pocket folders, pencils, large erasers, colored pencils, crayons, rulers, backpacks, calculators. Last year the CIT’s at various Cummins facilities rallied to fill more than 1800 backpacks!
“The Back-To-School drive enables Cummins employees to give back to less fortunate children and their families in the community,” commented Brandy Frisbie, Human Resources Generalist, Cummins Turbo Technologies. “By supporting learning and educational development we’re providing these children with an opportunity to not only perform but to excel in the classroom.”
The CEP Community Involvement Team is comprised of members from various business units within the plant. Brandy Frisbie and Vicky Pagliaro represent Turbo Technologies at the CEP.
The Back-To-School drive continues through to the end of July. Thank you to everyone for their donations so far.
