Cummins Turbo Technologies, Pune sets the ball rolling for second scholarship programme
Cummins Turbo Technologies have set the ball rolling for the second scholarship programme for the underprivileged students from Wagholi School for higher technical education.
This scholarship programme was started last year from the donations that were collected through various events like charity auctions and marathons. The funds collected are being used to educate students from underprivileged backgrounds who lack proper resources to pursue higher education.
Through this programme five students were sponsored last year from Wagholi School who are pursuing higher technical education in colleges around Pune.
On February 6, employees from the Pune office went to Wagholi and met students from class 8 to 10. Employees talked to the students about the scholarship programme and how pursuing higher education can give them a better life. They encouraged the students to study hard to develop themselves into capable people.
Scholar students from the previous sponsorship programme also attended this event and shared their experiences on how Turbo Technologies’ employees guided them through filling out the admission forms to final admission in the colleges. The students also talked about the financial support that was provided to them which included education fee, books and day to day living expenses. They not only expressed their joy but also encouraged the juniors to study sincerely to get the scholarship.
After the event, the employees interacted with some of the scholar students to understand their background and desire to study further. This event also gave an opportunity to mentor and buddies of the existing sponsored students to interact with them to understand if they have any concerns and to gauge their academic progress.
Towards the end of the event, sweets were distributed to all the students who attended the function.
